Halfway House Sessions – Small Sins

Toronto’s Small Sins marked the first occasion we were graced with the presence of an international band @ the Stone House. They were kind enough to stop by to lay down this Halfway House Session in the midst of their tour destination of Austin TX and SXSW. Despite the breaking of a window to the bands van the night before – everyone was in great spirits. These Canucks were pretty swell. We’re pretty sure you’ll agree.

If you think as much – be sure to pick up their latest release Pot Calls Kettle Black.

Here is a review from EyeWeekly:

After a three-year hiatus, Toronto quintet Small Sins is finally back with their third studio release, Pot Calls Kettle Black. The album finds the band experimenting with a plethora of styles, particularly electronica and synth-pop, while frontman Thomas D’Arcy continues to churn out clever lyrics in his distinctive heart-on-sleeve style. The electro-funk “Déjà Vu” is easily the gem of the album with its sizzling explosions between Todor Kobakov’s slinky piano riffs and Brent Follett’s propulsive drum beats. With k-os guesting on the track, “Déjà Vu” guarantees to put the album on the indie map and, as the album ventures into melancholic and contemplative territory with songs like “Everything You Need,” you can’t help but admire D’Arcy’s refusal to be tied down by one musical genre.
